Leihan Tang obtained his B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1981. He later received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University in 1983 and 1987, respectively. After conducting postdoctoral research at institutions including UC Santa Barbara, Texas A&M University, Forschungszentrum Jülich, and the University of Cologne, he joined Imperial College London as a Lecturer in 1996. In 1997, he moved to Hong Kong Baptist University, where he was promoted to Professor and served as Director of the Institute of Computational and Theoretical Studies (note: please confirm the exact English name of the center/institute from the university's official website) from 2020 to 2024. He also led the Complex Systems Division at the Beijing Computational Science Research Center from 2010 to 2020. Since 2024, Professor Tang has held the position of Chair Professor of Physics at Westlake University. His research interests span statistical physics, condensed matter theory, and biophysics, with a focus on nonequilibrium systems, phase transitions in complex materials, and quantitative modeling of biological systems.
